TAJOGAITE ERUPTION

La Palma, Canary Island

Museo Arqueológico Benahoarita, Los Llanos de Aridane (17 - 21 November, 2025)

The International Conference Tajogaite Eruption (La Palma, Canary Islands) stands as a meeting point for professionals who were present during and after the recent volcanic eruption (19 September – 13 December 2021). Beyond being a scientific gathering, we aspire to create a space for dialogue and learning accessible to the entire community of La Palma. This Conference is designed to facilitate the presentation and analysis of cutting-edge research in key areas, including volcano-tectonic processes, the petrology and geochemistry of magma, the assessment of volcanic hazards, geophysical and geochemical monitoring systems, the study of atmospheric emissions and their impact on air quality and health, the conservation of the geological heritage, terrestrial and marine biodiversity, and the exploration of new resource opportunities.

We extend a cordial invitation to the scientific community, risk management professionals, decision-makers, and especially the citizens of La Palma. We want this Conference to be an opportunity to hear firsthand about scientific advances, better understand the processes that surround us, and appreciate the fundamental role of science in informed decision-making.

We encourage you to present your research, share your experiences, and join us at this event.

The Congress will take place in the Museo Arqueológico Benahoarita, in Los Llanos de Aridane, from 17 – 21 November, 2025.

Discover La Palma

The volcanic island of La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain) also known as Benahoare, Junonia Maior, San Miguel de La Palma, Isla Bonita or Isla Verde emerged about 4 million years ago from a crack in the bed of the Atlantic Ocean; with little more than two million years old, since it emerged from the ocean waters, it occupies no more than 708 km2, crowned by the peak of Roque de los Muchachos at 2,426 meters above sea level. It is an insignificant area that leaves no one indifferent, because it is full of magical corners where it displays all its beautiful scenery, flooding the visitor's imagination with amazing stories and comforting the soul of the adventurer.
