Topic 12.
Terrestrial biodiversity
This session explores the impacts of volcanic eruptions on terrestrial ecosystems, from immediate destruction to long-term ecological change. We invite contributions that investigate the effects of volcanic activity on organisms and ecosystems. Topics of interest include the species resilience and adaptation, the processes of ecological succession, the survival strategies of pioneer species, and the physiological, genetic, and molecular responses of affected organisms. Research using experimental methods as well as predictive analyses and satellite remote sensing techniques to assess volcano-related ecological dynamics is also welcome.
